Ronald Rudd showed up to UCLA's campus at around 2 p.m. last Friday, and after about four hours of touring the school and having in-depth conversations with Bruin O-line coach Adrian Klemm, the three-star Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Chaffey C.C. lineman came away impressed.

"I loved it," Rudd said. "It went real great. I got to see how beautiful the campus was. I got to have some more words with coach Klemm. I found it very exciting, very eye-opening toward my recruiting process."

Rudd loved it so much, in fact, that he ended up officially verballing to Klemm on Sunday evening, becoming the Bruins' fifth pledge in the 2017 class.

"It just all felt right to me," Rudd said of why he committed. "I just felt like I belonged there. Like it was calling for me."

The specific aha moment came when Rudd was trying on UCLA gear, envisioning a future as a Bruin offensive lineman.

"Toward the end (of the visit), going toward the equipment room, when I got to put on the jersey and the helmet, I just pictured myself on the field on a Saturday afternoon in the Rose Bowl," Rudd said. "And then I talked it over with my family and my coach (and committed)."

Rudd chose UCLA over a top list of San Diego State, Memphis, Missouri, Louisville, Baylor and Arizona State. The 6-foot-7, 305-pound tackle said now that he's committed, he has no plans to visit any programs outside of UCLA.

"I just wanted to play for Klemm ultimately," Rudd said. "He's a real good coach. He knows what he's doing. He's experienced and over the course of his time coaching, he's sent a lot of dudes to the league. And I know playing for him, I can progress as a player and a young man."

Rudd intends to graduate early and enroll at UCLA in January. He'll have three years to play two in Westwood.

"I'm bringing strength, my talents, my technique, experience, maturity and a dawg that I can hopefully rub off to the young linemen when I come there," Rudd said.
